Team: Remembering Sarah Warner
Well we did it! After a 4.30am start in pitch black all 7 of us made the summit by 9.30am. It was quite simply the experience of a lifetime and pushed us all to our limits but we loved it and would like to say an enormous thank you to everyone for your relentless support and very generous donations which are still coming in. It has been a humbling experience with people even giving us money on the plane when hearing about what we were doing. So thank you again, a truely memorable experience in memory of such a wonderful friend. Xxx
On 25 September 2013, after many months of training, a team of inspirational Mums will set off to Morocco on a 6 day trek at altitude, and climb Mount Toubkal. Rising high in the Atlas Mountains Jebel Toubkal is the highest mountain in North Africa and stands an impressive 4167m above sea level. Standing between us and the summit are 6 days of tough trekking sleeping only under canvas, no showers and beyond basic loo facilities!
Our climb is in memory of my dearest friend Sarah who passed away last year at 38 after a long and very brave battle with a brain tumour. Sarah was the brightest of stars, always laughing and always a true joy to be around and is so so missed. She was an amazing Mum to her two beautiful young children who were her world, a brilliant wife to her devoted husband and much loved daughter, sister, cousin and niece. I was blessed to have shared 30 wonderful years of friendship with Sarah and hope to raise as much money as possible in her memory.
It seems fitting then that a team of ladies who share friendship because we are all Mums, are embarking on this epic adventure together! What started with the ramblings of two over a few glasses of wine and many e-mails later has now developed into a determined group of 7…….Moroccan Mountain Mums were born!
We are all self funding our climb so every penny raised will go to charity. We are raising money for two charities Iain Rennie Hospice at Home that were so helpful to Sarah and her family and Brain Tumour Research. Both charities do an overwhelming amount of work and only survive and continue due to the contributions to their funding by charitable donations so please, do give what you can. If you could, we would be so grateful if you could split your donation between the two charities by donating here and to our sister page for Iain Rennie Hospice At Home:
