Iain and Keir's Great Glen Way for Befrienders Highland · 23 May 2018

Befrienders Highland offers 1-1 befriending to people experiencing mental ill health, memory loss or who are a carer. Friendships are between the befriendee and a trained volunteer, either: face-to-face, by telephone or e-mail/letter. The aim of the friendship is to reduce loneliness & isolation.

Story

Iain and Keir are going to walk the 127km of the Great Glen Way that stretches coast to coast from Fort William to Inverness. We are raising money for Befrienders Highland: a small voluntary organisation working to improve the lives of people who are lonely and isolated and have experience of mental ill health, memory difficulties or dementia, and carers. Their befriending services have helped improve the confidence, wellbeing and social belonging of hundreds of people in our communities.

Unless Iain's knees give out and Keir has to give him a horsey back, we plan to cover the route in 5 days at the end of May. Thank you for any support you can give a wonderful charity: every pound will make a significant difference.
