Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In September last year the daughter of Morrow Communications’ Director, Kieran Donnelly was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour.
Lucy Donnelly, an active and happy 12-year-old started a difficult journey with Cancer, undergoing two brain surgeries before beginning intensive proton beam radiotherapy treatment in Manchester. She is now nearing the end of her Chemotherapy treatment in Belfast Royal Children’s Hospital and is looking forward to getting back to doing all the normal things teenagers do.

You can read more about Lucy’s story here on the Cancer Fund for Children’s website. https://cancerfundforchildren.com/lucys-story/

Lucy was very pleased to support the amazing fundraising efforts of Rory Best, his wife Jodie and the whole team at Cancer Fund for Children on their recent #RorysMiles2Mayo walk. It is designed to raise much needed funds to deliver another ‘Daisy Lodge’ family support facility in Cong in County Mayo, greatly increasing the charity’s ability to meet demand for such facilities.

The charity has been a great support to Lucy and the Donnelly family throughout this difficult journey and they have experienced first-hand the benefits of a facility such as Daisy Lodge in Newcastle. As Lucy herself puts it…
“We recently spent a weekend in Daisy Lodge and it was so nice and relaxing. It would be great if there was another place like this in Mayo so more people can enjoy it too. All the money raised by the walk will help make that happen.”

With this in mind, the Morrow Communications team, colleagues and friends wanted to follow in Rory’s footsteps and undertake our own mini challenge to raise funds for such a worthy cause.

On 30th September we will be collectively walking a minimum of 180 miles ( between us) out the Co-Down Coast and back. Not surprisingly (for those that know us) we will be using the Dirty Duck pub in Holywood as our starting and end point. While nowhere near the mammoth effort of Rory Best and team in recent weeks it’s a little step in the right direction.

We would be very grateful if you could support our efforts and this great cause by making a donation.

Thank you !
