RED January 2019
Campaign by Mind (RCN 219830)
RED January is here to help people support their mental health with physical activity, in partnership with Mind, the leading mental health charity.

Story

My big brother Tom took his own life in November 2018 and in memory of him I am choosing to do something active every day throughout January to support mental health.

Tom loved being active. He loved to play basketball but most people knew him as ‘The Running Man’ as he ran through the village every day.

In honor of him I will be ‘moving for mental health’. Moving for my own mental health, moving to encourage others to take care of their own mental health and moving to raise awareness. 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem each year and only 25% of them will receive the help they need...this has to change.

We couldn’t save our Tom but if we can save just one person from taking their own life, save one family from going through the turmoil of losing someone to suicide then Tom will not have died in vain.

So I will be doing something every day wether it is swimming, Zumba, running, weight lifting or cycling. If you’d like to come along to keep me company and move yourself then you are more than welcome!!

Let’s kick start 2019 by making a change!!!
