UPDATE!
I did it! I beat my target time of three hours - I managed to complete the course in 02:43:03!
First off was a dip in the rather cool Thames, feeling like I'd eaten too much breakfast... the swim was tough going, with the following wave starting to catch me up. After reaching the Windsor Bridge turn, I was swimming against the current for what felt like a long time! Reaching dry land was a relief, and it was into T1, with some barefoot running, grabbing the bike and then onto the cycle. The route was mainly on rural A and B road with some partial closures, and it felt good to be in my comfort zone, zipping past the slower people. One straight had a lovely tailwind and a steady 25 mph felt great. I pushed hard on the cycle, only switching down a gear on the few steeper climbs. A long smooth descent into Windsor, with the castle in view also felt great. Back to the park and I managed a quicker T2 than last year (better sock technique!). The run began with a steep climb up to the castle entrance from the riverside and then took us onto quite a long section of the Long Walk. The return stretch had a great view of the castle, followed by a time check using the clock on the castle. By the third lap I gave it everything I had left, pushing hard on the return, down the hill and straight on to the finish!! Two mins later, with the medal around my neck, I received the text showing I'd smashed my target!!
Awesome and well organised event, excellent marshalls skills and cold 0% beer at the end!!
Thank you all so much for sponsoring me, I gave it my best. Now I need to think what to do next!!

Welcome!
This year I am taking on another epic challenge - this time it's the Royal Windsor Olympic Triathlon! On 17th June I will swimming 1500m in the River Thames, cycling a lumpy 40km, and running 10km run close to Windsor Castle!
I'm taking on this challenge to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. I will be training for 12 weeks before, six days a week!
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is a charity that is close to my heart and to my family. Ten years ago I lost my brother, Ben, to Cystic Fibrosis. He was 23 years old. It is my hope that, with your support, I can raise money for the Trust who help support research into a cure for CF as well as treatment of the symptoms.
With your support, those born with CF will have a better standard of living as well as the chance to enjoy a normal life.
Thank you so much for your support!
A few words about Cystic Fibrosis and the Trust:
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-limiting genetic condition affecting more than 10,000 people across the UK. It affects the lungs and digestive system and can cause chronic infections and reduced lung function. Currently, half of those with CF will not live past age 41.The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is fighting for a brighter future for people with CF and their families by funding cutting-edge research, driving up standards of care and supporting people with the condition and their loved ones every step of the way.
