The world famous Virgin Money London Marathon is back on the 28th April 2019. Join Team Age UK in the fight to end loneliness!

Story

Most people feel lonely at some point in their lives. It’s a deeply personal experience that is, in most cases, temporary. But for a huge proportion of our elderly community, loneliness is a daily battle.

3.9 million older people say that their TV is their main source of company. 1 million will spend Christmas alone. My mother told me recently that her friend, who lives alone, uses Amazon Alexa to help her feel connected as she has no one else to talk with. Can you imagine how that might feel?

I'm running this year's London Marathon to raise money to help Age UK to continue providing vital services that offer companionship, advice and support for millions of older people facing later life alone. I'll be thinking of the all those affected by loneliness with every mile I run on 28th April 2019. Please help me to help them by giving what you can, even a fiver will make all the difference. I hope to see some of you on the sidelines on the day. Thank you
