Story
Thank you so much to everyone for your donations. x
.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page - it's all for a very good cause I can assure you; otherwise I wouldn't be putting my poor wee legs through all of this! I am not usually a sporty person, so before I am 40 I thought I would do my best to do something for this great charity and challenge myself for the 26.2 miles of London that awaits me in April!
CLIC Sargent is the UK's leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. They have helped my beautiful Wife Louise and her family in the past, hence my reason for choosing them as my Marathon charity.
They provide clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life. They are there from diagnosis onwards and aim to help the whole family deal with the impact cancer and its treatment, life afterwards and in some cases, bereavement.
I know it's a big target but I am hoping that my wonderful friends and family (that's you by the way!) will all dig deep and we can help so many people.
How your donation can help:
£15 could pay for one copy of the CLIC Sargent DVD to help families where a child or young person has died of cancer to understand and cope with their grief.
£25 could pay for an hour of a CLIC Sargent Nurse's time, so they can coordinate clinical and non-clinical care for children with cancer, to maximise the amount of time they can safely spend at home, and to ensure treatments can be given closer to home where possible.
£50 could pay for 3 hours of a CLIC Sargent Play Specialist's time, so they can help a child prepare for and cope with treatment using models, toys and photos to explain what will happen.
£75 could pay for 3 hours of a Social Worker's time. They aim to meet with Children with cancer and their families soon after diagnosis and to help them understand and cope with the emotional, practical and financial effects of cancer, through treatment and beyond.
Thank you so much for reading this far, and with a little more time and a few of your pennies I know we can all make a difference here.
Matthew xx
