Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

I’m running with #TeamRunMND to raise money & awareness for the Motor Neurone Disease Associationthis year. So far I am booked in to take on the following event with hopefully more to come 🙄

2020 Events

London Landmarks Half Marathon, Manchester Marathon, Endure24, Bedford Half Marathon, Great South Run

2019 Events

St Helens 10k, London Landmarks Half Marathon, Manchester Marathon Relay, Milton Keynes Rocket 5k, Milton Keynes Marathon Relay, Endure24, Bedford Half Marathon, Great South Run

I’ll also be taking part in the Prudential Ride London 100 in August.

In  2005 my heart was broken when my darling Dad was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. I’d heard of this terminal illness because a lady on the news had been going to court to fight for the ‘right to die with dignity’ which she unfortunately lost.

Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive illness which affects up to 5000 people in the UK at any one time. Motor neurone disease (MND) describes a group of diseases that affect the nerves (motor neurones) in the brain and spinal cord that tell your muscles what to do. With MND, messages from these nerves gradually stop reaching the muscles, leading them to weaken, stiffen and waste. MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. Some people also experience changes to their thinking and behaviour. However, MND affects everyone differently. Not all symptoms will affect everyone, or in the same order. Symptoms also progress at varying speeds, which makes the course of the disease difficult to predict.

My dad sadly passed away just one year after diagnosis but with your help I’m hoping to fundraise to make a little dent in the funds required to support people living with this illness & their families and also the funds needed to work towards finding a cure, because there is no finish line until there’s a cure 💙🧡
