We are the UK’s leading membership charity campaigning for gender equality and women’s rights at work, at home and in public life. Our vision is a society in which women and girls in all their diversity are equal and truly free to fulfill their potential creating a stronger, happier, better future.

Story

Hello!

Do you feel strongly about equality between women and men?

So do we.

Do you agree with Caitlin Moran (in her recent, brilliant book, "How To Be A Woman", see #1 below) that something is not quite right with British feminism in the noughties (or should that be onesies?) and who sees Katie Price not as a feminist icon for our times, but rather as "Vichy France, with tits?".

Well, that makes two of us.

I am a member of the fantastic women's charity The Fawcett Society (see #2 below) which campaigns for real progress on gender equality in the UK, as well as producing groovy T-shirts emblazoned with the slogan "This Is What A Feminist Looks Like" (see #3 below).

Having (unsuccessfully) taken the government to court last year for unfairly skewing the recent public spending cuts massively against women, Fawcett is a bit skint.

To do my bit to help them out, I'm going to run with The Hyde Park Hussies (see #4 below) in the Adidas Women's 5k Challenge (see #5 below) on Sunday 11 September, and ask everyone I know to sponsor us a quid or two.

Never one to shy away from a fancy dress opportunity, I thought we could make it even more fun by dressing as our favourite women from history! Joan of Arc, Dolly Parton, Mary Poppins, Dame Edna Everage... You get the picture.

Think of it as a SlutJog (see #6 below.)

Any donation you can make, however small, will go to support
the amazing campaigning work The Fawcett Society does on behalf of us all, and on behalf of our daughters, and our daughters' daughters.

Thank you.

Lauren
