Story
In September 2020 I was diagnosed with Lymphoplasmacyctic Lymphoma which is often referred to by the catchy name of Waldenströms Macroglobulinaemia!
In an attempt to raise funds for the charity WMUK I am taking part in the 2021 virtual London Marathon. Due to the pandemic the annual carnival of humanity through the streets of London will be replaced by runners covering the distance on a route of their choice tracked by a smartphone App - so no cheating! However...if it is raining or blowing a gale on 3rd October I may head to the gym and use a treadmill. One problem with this option - the App. will record a distance of zero miles and zero yards! 😄 I’m sure the weather will be glorious on the day. This will be my eleventh marathon and I can confidently predict it will be my slowest but after four months of chemotherapy and immunotherapy I’m lucky to be able to take part. Thank you for your support.
WMUK is the only charity in the UK focused solely on Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinaemia (WM), a rare type of blood cancer. We are a partnership of WM doctors and patients in the UK working together to improve the treatment and care of people with WM. Your support helps us in our work to focus on providing: accurate diagnosis and high-quality care, personalised information and support, research that matters to patients and access to new and better treatments.
