MS Society Bigfoot Challenge · 18 April 2005

Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

In 1953, after his wife Mary was diagnosed with MS, Sir Richard Cave founded the Multiple Sclerosis Society. He died in 1988 having seen the MS Society grow to become one of the country's leading medical research, care and support organisations. He was also a driving force behind the establishment of international MS Societies around the world.

His son Simon, and Simon's two children Julia and Philip, will be joining the 2005 MS Society Bigfoot Challenge on August 26th for a 3-day, 50-mile walk across Wiltshire, together with several hundred other volunteers and fundraisers.

Simon, 67, is actively involved with the MS Society as president of their Richmond Upon Thames branch, and the MS Society has organised great publicity for him in the Surrey Comet ('Local Hero: Simon Cave') as well as the Richmond Informer and Richmond & Twickenham Times, for Julia, 42, through the Yorkshire Evening Post ('Best Foot Forward', 2nd April) and Philip, 40, through the Watford Observer ('Keeping Fundraising In The Family', 15th April).

The walk will comprise 15-16 miles on the first day from Pewsey, a full walked marathon on day two and the final 9-10 miles on the third day, which finishes up in Marlborough. So, how about sponsoring us? We're aiming to raise as much as possible and your supporting us through Justgiving.com will mean the most possible money goes into the Society's funds. Just click on the link, blow some dust off the credit card and Justgiving.com will do the rest. We're hoping to raise a minimum of £1,200 between us, but it would be great if we could top that. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: the Multiple Sclerosis Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Many thanks for your support.
