Our Yorkshire 3 peaks MS walk · 21 July 2020
Me (Megan), George and the kids (who will be 10, 8 and 8 by then) are walking the Yorkshire 3 peaks at the end of July for the MS Society. My Dad has had MS for over 12 years which has recently got a lot worse, not that he likes to admit it! A lot of people don't even know what multiple sclerosis is and how it affects people's lives so we wanted to do something that would raise awareness as well as money for the amazing research that the MS Society does.
We are doing lots of training beforehand to build up to it, including couch to 5k together, the kids are so determined to raise some money!
From the NHS website:
"Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that can affect the brain and spinal cord, causing a wide range of potential symptoms, including problems with vision, arm or leg movement, sensation or balance.
It's a lifelong condition that can sometimes cause serious disability, although it can occasionally be mild.
In many cases, it's possible to treat symptoms. Average life expectancy is slightly reduced for people with MS.
MS is an autoimmune condition. This is when something goes wrong with the immune system and it mistakenly attacks a healthy part of the body – in this case, the brain or spinal cord of the nervous system."
