Story
Hollie our Yellow Lab is taking part in a 10km sponsored walk with me to try and help to save the RSPCA Preston Shelter that saved her in 2010.
Hollie had a terrible start in life, as a helpless 5 month old puppy she was beaten and kicked down stairs by her previous owner. Luckily this was all caught on CCTV and reported to the RSPCA.
Hollie was seized by the RSPCA and taken to the Preston shelter. There is more on the story is here. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1336796/Diplomats-son-Mohammed-Abou-Sabaa-battered-labrador-puppy-CCTV.html
The court case went on for 5 months, and during this time Hollie could not be rehomed. She spent this time being lovingly cared for and rehabilitated by the staff & volunteers at the RSPCA Preston & District branch. Thanks to the amazing work by these people, Hollie came out of this ordeal as though it had never happened and is now the friendliest dog you could ever meet ; http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/220281/Rescued-the-dog-kicked-downstairs-by-her-owner
Hollie went on to win Eukanuba's Extraordinary Dog Competition in 2011, and won a year’s supply of Eukanuba food (which was donated to the shelter) she was also the face of one of their advertising campaigns. (a picture of the advert is in the gallery)
If it hadn't been for the staff & volunteers at the Preston RSPCA Shelter, Hollies life could have been completely different, it’s a miracle that she made the recovery that she did. It is so important that the shelter can stay open and continue to help other mistreated and abandoned pets in the same way.
As recently shown on the regional news the RSPCA Preston & District branch, is now desperately low on funds and relies 100% on public fundraising and donations to stay open, as they receive no money from the National RSPCA, and no government funding.
Currently the branch only has enough money to operate for another 2 months so please give what you can.
If you are able to take part in the walk yourself and can start raising some money yourself, please feel free to create yourself a page and join the team (and drop me an email so I can keep you up to date with any updates - mthomas46@ymail.com ) .
