Story
Hello,
On April 2nd, I will be running the Brighton Marathon with my brother Bev.
Unfortunately, Bev is a far superior runner to me, and I will no doubt be left in his dirt when the big day comes around next month. This is particularly galling, as a non-smoker, considering his appetite for Golden Virginia.
As I fear I will be lagging behind on the finishing time, I am absolutely adamant that I must be victorious on the fundraising side of things (the bit that really matters).
I am running for a cause close to mine, my family’s and particularly my grandmother Sally Grylls’ heart. I will be putting myself through the pain of a marathon (and associated training) in aid of Dementia UK.
My grandmother does amazing work on the Isle of Wight and beyond to support this charity, so I am trying to do my bit to help out the cause and support her monumental efforts.
Dementia UK are an incredible charity that provide nurses to support those suffering with Dementia. Dementia is an umbrella term for a range of progressive disorders affecting the brain, including Alzheimer’s disease.
Diseases of the brain are among the most painful to deal with for victims, families and friends alike. Admiral nurses provided as lifelines by Dementia UK can help to alleviate at least some of this pain. Any support would be incredibly gratefully received. Proceeds could support nurses salaries in places that they are most required.
Thank you so much for your kind donations and if anyone fancies a trip to Brighton to support, that would be epic! Hopefully see some of you down there.
Also, if you want to donate to Bev’s page as well, I won’t begrudge the kindness for another great cause! Just make sure that it’s ever so slightly less than what you donate here..
Lots of Love,
Mungo
