This may be the shortest notice of an endeavour but we have finally managed to solve the unholy trinity of problems - illness, injury and childcare - so are heading north today to start our Munro bagging quest in the southern highlands.

The family team meets again in the southern highlands this time with the goal of climbing as many Munros as we can from Sunday to Tuesday. With a fair wind, kind weather, lengthening days and robust legs there are 11 possible mountains for us to aim at.

Mungo’s story 

I am raising money for the ALMT because they support Siblings Together. I believe strongly in the work Siblings Together does. I want to support this charity because I feel family is the most important gift a person can have.

I am lucky to have a loving supportive family guiding me through my ups and downs. My brothers make great friends, most of the time, because there is always somebody to play with and they sometimes have something interesting to share! I not only have my brothers but I have the best cousin, Robbie, who is going to be by my side during this climb.

Last year, when we were up in the clouds this belief pushed me on to the top of the mountains and gave me a huge sense of achievement. This year the challenge will be steeper and I will have to lean on those feelings for support.
