Story
Before she lost her battle with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) at the early age of 56, Muriel Lagnese had a wish—to help other patients and families overcome by high costs of care.
We established Muriel’s Breath of Life Foundation in her loving memory. The Foundation supports patients’ access to lifesaving treatments by helping to close the financial gaps in care.
Funds raised by Muriel’s Breath of Life are administered by the UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation and are intended for CF patients of all age with special financial needs who are undergoing treatment at either the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Care Program at UPMC’s Comprehensive Lung Center or the Antonio J. and Janet Palumbo Cystic Fibrosis Center at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
The Lagnese family established the Muriel’s Breath of Life in 2010 to help close the financial gaps of care for people in the tri-state area of Pittsburgh affected by Cystic Fibrosis (CF). This Foundation honors the life of Muriel Lagnese, a loving and kind woman who lost her battle with Cystic Fibrosis at only 56 years young.
Muriel’s Breath of Life and the Lagnese family have established an endowment to support this cause for years to come. Your generous gift provides long-term financial support for needy CF patients and their families in the Pittsburgh region for generations to come.
