Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Friday the 6th of October I will spend the night sleeping rough in the church grounds at St Paul's in Birmingham. I'm doing this to raise much needed funds for Action for Children and the national sleep-out event, Byte Night.
Action for Children raise much needed funds for projects throughout the UK that aim to prevent youth homelessness by tackling the root-cause of the issue. Have a read of Ben's story below for just one example of who these funds go to help out.
When social services found 6 year old Ben, he was tied to a radiator with a half-eaten tin of dog food on the floor next to him. Beside him was his 9 year old brother Scott. Both were filthy. The neglect that Ben and his brother faced is how so many children like them are removed from their family home and are forced to enter the care system.
That’s when Action for Children got the call to place the brothers in one of their specially trained foster families. The abuse and neglect these poor children had been suffering at the hands of their parents was truly disgusting.
I wish I could tell you that their story was a one off, but every year 1.5 million children across the UK face violence or isolation, they are bullied by those they should look to for unconditional love, are starving or living in squalor.
No child should suffer in this way - and that's why I'm sleeping.
