Our mission is to help change the lives of economically and socially disadvantaged children born with a cleft lip and/or palate in the areas where we work. Our team of medical experts provides corrective surgery and also cascades skills to local doctors and nurses , thereby leaving a lasting legacy.

Story

Last year I undertook a triathlon challenge to raise money
for two charities, Northern Cleft Foundation and the Cleft Lip and Palate
Association raising in total just under £1500 for each charity.  This was my way of giving something back in
response to the very successful operations to correct my granddaughter Abigail’s
cleft lip and palate which was carried out by one of the surgeons who supports
the Northern Cleft Foundation.  Thank you
to everyone who asks how she is doing; the answer is very well as you can see from her photo.

In January the outreach project from the Northern Cleft
Foundation gave their skills time and money to go to India to perform 80
operations and change 80 lives.  With
minimal admin costs they are able to use all monies raised to really make a
difference and have now performed over 1500 operations in India. Each operation
cost around £200 and it’s very humbling to think that there are now seven
children in India who have a bright future ahead of them because of the monies
you donated for my challenge last year.  It’s
this thought that has inspired me to undertake another challenge.  On the weekend of May 19th &
20th I will be cycling the Devon coast to coast from Plymouth to
Ilfracombe, a distance of 99 miles via the small challenge of Dartmoor.  Thank you for any help you can give.  I will again be applying for matched funding from
the Vodafone Foundation so any donations will be effectively doubled.
