I am raising money for the Hospice in memory of my mum Betty Hopkins who sadly passed away in December 2012 after fighting cancer for four years.

My background Story
My mum was such a loving caring person who would do anything for anyone. She lived all her life in Maidstone working for many years as a doctors receptionist .
Mum chose to accept treatment and spent her last years on trial cancer drugs. Mums treatment caused her a lot of pain and discomfort but she chose to continue to help others.

She used to say to me "I've had a good life and enjoyed my children and grandchildren. There are too many youngsters out there loosing their lives to this horrible disease".

I looked after mum at her home with the help from the hospice and my family and friends. The hospice nurses came out most days to see mum and were always at the end of the phone to help. I moved in with mum and looked after her night and day, and the night she died I held her and talked to her as she slowly slid away from me.

The hospice offered me councilling which I accepted, and was very grateful. The atmosphere at the hospice is very welcoming comfortable and peaceful. 

The reason for doing this musicalthon is to give a little bit back and to help the Hospice continue their outstanding care for others. The hospice are funded primarily through donations.

I have done several musicalthorns in the past and to date have raised about £40,000 for various charities. I hope everyone who joins in and supports the day will enjoy it as much as my family do.
