As many of you will be aware, I lost my Grandma to dementia in May 2018. Dementia is a cruel disease that stripped my Grandma, Wendy Stokes, of all her memories that she experienced and treasured in her life. 

Megan and I will be attending the Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk in September of this year for those who are suffering with the disease and for those who we have lost. 

I am raising money to support people with dementia so they are never alone or excluded from society and for research to prevent people from developing it. My Grandma had a wonderful network of friends and family that supported her from beginning to end but unfortunately there are people out there who aren't so fortunate.

My Grandma was a wonderfully crazy, generous and loving woman. She continued to make us laugh until the last day. My Nickname for her was "Crazy Grandma"  as there was never a dull moment when you visited her, even when she became ill. She entertained us with her love for music and dancing, her eccentric fashion sense and her love of life.

For those of you who know me well, you will understand where I inherited my craziness from.

Through the last seven years, I have learnt that family must come first and I will continue to live life to the fullest, following Grandma's footsteps and motto. 

Dementia 

Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year – that's the equivalent to one person every three minutes. This September and October Memory Walks will be taking place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to raise money for a world without dementia. Arm in arm, step by step and pound by pound, we will get there. Once you donate, Just Giving will send your money directly to the Alzheimer's Society.
