London Memory Walk at Night 2018 · 6 October 2018 ·
Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year – that's the equivalent to one person every three minutes. This September and October Memory Walks will be taking place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to raise money for a world without dementia. Arm in arm, step by step and pound by pound, we will get there. Once you donate, Just Giving will send your money directly to the Alzheimer's Society. So it's the most efficient way to raise money – saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Please dig deep and help us walk for a world without dementia.
So I will be taking part in the Memory walk. I will be walking in memory of Robert Jones aka Bob (My Grandie).
Robert Jones was a larger than life, big hearted, loving, caring and patience person who was very much loved by family and friends.
This year we hit 5 years since he died and we would have been celebrating his 90th in November, so in his memory I want to raise £100 for the Alzheimer's Society.
This is due to Robert being diagnosed with Vascular Dementia in 2011, his friends and family watched the man they loved and cared deeply about deteriorate in front of their eyes.
In to 2013 we physically lost Robert.
Vascular dementia or any form of Alzheimer's/Dementia is a horrible condition which lacks in research and funding but is becoming progressively more common.
The money I raise will help families, carers, professionals and the public understand dementia more, the research that is needed will be carried out.
So please donate even if it is 1p, anything helps.
I maybe walking in memory of my grandfather but I am doing this because I want a world with a better understanding on dementia/ Alzheimer's.
