Memory Walk 2020
Campaign by Alzheimer's Society (RCN 296645)
This year thousands of people will walk united, against dementia. With your help, we aim to raise as much money as possible to help anyone affected by dementia.

Story

**UPDATE:** Since the start of this fundraising journey, we lost our beautiful Nanny Girlie. We will now be walking in memory of her... <3

Girlie is a well known and loved lady, proudly from Rotherhithe, with a wealth of knowledge and a love for reading. Kind, generous and a mum/ nan to many, she has always cared for an “extended family”.

Nan was diagnosed with on set  dementia in 2013 after a long stint in hospital and significant trauma to her body. Through the last 7 years she has struggled knowing that “there’s something happening to my brain” and as the years have gone by, her health has deteriorated greatly.

Me and my family would like to raise money for the dementia and Alzheimer’s society in order for them to continue research in the hope to find a cure.

It is heart breaking to watch a woman who had such a love for people slowly forget who any of them are. This disease is cruel and tormenting not only for the person but also their family, friends and loved ones. Please help us to raise money  as we walk together in this memory walk for Nan. X

Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year, that's the equivalent to one person every three minutes. This year Memory Walks will be taking place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to raise money for a world without dementia. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to Alzheimer's Society. So it's the most efficient way to raise money, saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Let's take on dementia together!
