Story
In 2005 my father Robert Green was diagnosed with prostate cancer which soon spread to his bones and eventually it was suspected to have entered his brain. Following a 3 year battle weakened by the cancer my dad died aged 65 of pneumonia.
The subsequent years were no easier with my Nan Joan Banfield passing away having been bed ridden for well over a year and my uncle David suffering a stroke.
Having thought I'd got through the worst of it, in 2010 my family was absolutely rocked by the news that my mother Barbara Green had developed bowl cancer. As with my Dad, the cancer spread quickly and to her liver where it was deemed inoperable due to the complicated development of the disease. After a 2 year battle of de-habilitating chemotherapy she passed away on the 19th March 2012.
I, Mark Green have therefore made it my purpose to help those individuals like my family and those who are much less fortunate than ourselves by dedicating myself to pushing my body to the limit and performing a variety of fitness feats to raise awareness and money not only for research but for those that need help now.
Instead of a one off charity event, I want to continually breach such topics as cancer care, poverty, disease and many other issues which many of us hear about but never really appreciate the sheer scale and effect it has on some people’s lives.
Therefore, I am asking everyone who reads this page to 'like', 'share' and 'stream' via as many outlets as possible to raise awareness.
Keep an eye out for the forthcoming charity events which I will be participating in and the free material on facebook and twitter which I will be sharing to help you stay fit and healthy.
Share your personal stories and ideas as to how we can really make a difference.
