Story
I'm completing the 2.6 Challenge to raise money for Meanwood Farm, which is at risk of closing for good due to the coronavirus outbreak.
I'll be running (nearly!) a marathon - 26 miles - over 26 days during my daily exercise.
Note: I am not a runner. The only times I've run since high school P.E. is when I'm late for my bus. But I really want to support the Farm, which helps so many people in Leeds and is now at risk of closing.
Save Meanwood Farm
After forty years of educating, entertaining, and exciting the people of Leeds, Meanwood Valley Urban Farm is at risk of closing for good.
Every week, the Farm welcomes hundreds of visitors, schoolchildren, and trainees, who help to fund our charitable work. But now, with the country at standstill, they're losing a major part of our income.
Donate as I complete the 2.6 Challenge to help Save Meanwood Farm.
The #TwoPointSixChallenge - Save the UK's Charities
General fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
The 2.6 Challenge has been created by London Marathon organisers to help Save the UK's Charities. I'm taking part to support Meanwood Farm - and you can too! Here's how:
- Come up with your challenge - it could be anything linked to 2.6 or 26
- Visit www.twopointsixchallenge.co.uk and pick Meanwood Farm as your charity
- Complete your challenge and share it on social media!
