The 2.6 Challenge · 26 April 2020 ·
UK's Charities' general fundraising has been hit very hard by the pandemic and this includes the BHMT. We had runners and sponsors lined up for the London Marathon and all our summer fundraising events have been cancelled :-( Although we are a smaller charity, we are determined not to allow this to have a major impact on our support for people with severe mental illness...
From Esther: As some of you know, my crazy mother and I have become quite the dynamic-dancing-duo since lockdown began (not to toot our own horn but Abba have sung to us on several occasions that we are dancing queens... young and free indeed) We have decided to put our talents to good use and join the campaign to save the UK's charities in the 2.6 challenge. Inspired by dancers in our 2 dance classes- Movement with Aimee and JustDanceUK - we have chosen to perform a 26-track dancing debut which will be going live on Zoom for anyone to join. We are dancing a day early since the last hour of our dance-athon we will join everyone in our weekly Saturday Zumba class family! We will be raising money for the Beer-Harris Memorial Trust and each dance will be dedicated to my dad, Dominic, (who had two left feet, despite my mother's best efforts) and my cousin, Joe (who certainly busted a move at my 18th birthday).
2020 marks seven and three years (respectively) of dancing without these remarkable men by our sides. This one's for you guys x
