Story
Hi everyone!
Some of you will know that this year I should have been running the London Marathon!
I had been honoured to have been awarded the club place by my running club the Bure Valley Harriers and after a period of self doubt I took a deep breath and got stuck in to the training.
Over many miles I shed tears and sweat, ached in every part of my body but as I achieved each of my training goals there were some smiles too. Those of you that know me will be aware of what this opportunity meant to me. It had given me confidence, everything was going well and I was feeling I was getting there. Then, everything changed!!!
I was devastated when I heard that the race had been cancelled. However, I’ve given myself a talking to, taken another deep breath and I’m keeping up with my training as much as I can whilst adhering to the government guidelines. The long distances have decreased as living in the city centre restricts the time I can spend outside without coming into contact with people. Thanks must go to Brenda & Dave for keeping everyone going from afar with the BVH virtual club sessions. In addition I’m doing home workouts and online fitness classes. Anything to stay active!
I've decided not to let the marathon day pass me by without acknowledgement so I’ll be doing my own personal challenge. On Sunday 26th April I will be taking part in the #TwoPointSixChallange which has just been launched by the London Marathon!
I had been aiming for a sub 4hour marathon so this will be my target time. I'll be starting at 8am with 3 hours of exercises in reps of 26 at home and in the garden. I’ll finish off with a 1hr run around the beautiful city.
I will be out for my run from 11am in the NR3 area, if you'd like me to pass by your house so you can give me a cheery wave from your doorstep let me know and I will include you on my route. My list of exercises includes star jumps, squats, mountain climbers, press ups and sit ups, but I need more as 3 hours is a long time to fill!
I need your help adding to this list, please get involved and nominate an exercise to be included by adding your suggestions in the comments below.
Let’s raise some money for a great local charity who is doing some amazing work during this strange time.
Thank you everyone and wish me luck!
Leanne x
