Mount Toubkal Morocco 2024 (Extreme Trek)

In November 2023, I shall be travelling to Morocco to attempt to reach the summit of the highest peak in the Atlas Mountain range. Mount Toubkal is also the highest peak in all of North Africa and stands at a colossal 4167m (13,671ft)!
This 5-day trek would be graded as tough, but as this charity challenge will be taking place in the depths of winter, I will be tackling the freezing temperatures, accompanied with snow and ice! I will also be trained to use crampons, ice axes and will be wearing a helmet! Therefore, this charity challenge is graded as EXTREME!
Due to the extreme heights - I will be battling the ALTITUDE with many associated risks. There will be unpredictable weather conditions that will add to the mental and physical intensity of the trek. In an emergency situation, it would take 2-10 hours to reach a hospital, due to remoteness of the mountain range. With the snow and ice, it will be more challenging to navigate along the route with these elements and being exposed to sheer drops at such a height will push me to my limits also.
Hand on heart, with all these factors listed above, I know that this will be my most dangerous and intense charity challenge to date. But I am willing to take the risks as I am dedicated to the cause of raising mental health and suicide awareness and raising vital funds to save as many lives as possible, in loving memory of my little sister, Katrina (2000-2021). I am very proud to be supporting my chosen mental health charity, The Samaritans.
Every 90 minutes in the UK, someone dies by suicide. But talking saves lives. Over the 2021 festive period, the Samaritans responded to 244,254 calls in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Suicidal feelings were expressed during 1 in 4 calls.
The Samaritans are there for everyone, regardless of what someone is going through, a Samaritan will face it with them. The Samaritans helpline is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

With the cost of living crisis, financial worries and burdens, the stress of Christmas, grief over the festive period, winter depression (SAD), and so much more negativity affecting peoples’ mental health I want to do as much as I can to help, by supporting the vital services that the Samaritans provide in the community.
All of your donations for this wonderful cause will be greatly appreciated. Mental Health is so important. Lets do something amazing for others, in Katrina's Memory.
We need to stick together, and make a difference.
Best Wishes,
