Story

My story

On the 15th September 2013 I will be running my 33rd  GREAT NORTH RUN and I am hoping to make it a special one..I will be running in former Spice Girl MEL C 's North Team in the Vodafone JUSTTEXTGIVING challenge agianst Iwan Thomas' South Team

AND On the 10th August I ran 8 x 5k parkruns in 1 day. my parkrunathon took place in the Birmingham area, starting at Leamington at 7.00am - Coventry - Brueton-Arrow Valley-Worcester-Wolverhampton-Walsall - Canon Hill. Finishing approx 8:30 pm. Running a total of 40+k ( 25miles - which is appropriate to celebrate ACORNS 25th Anniversary.) 4 hrs 8 mins of running with 120 miles of driving in between

I am raising money again for : ACORNS CHILDRENS HOSPICE

who did such a wonderful job in caring for our Granddaughter Emily Hart.

Emily died the week before christmas in 2006 ending a long brave battle with Metochromatic leukodystropy ( MLD )

It is a very rare disease and to date there is still no cure. Her ability to walk, talk and eat all deteriorated from diagnosis at the age of 2 years.

ACORNS were very supportive throughout this period and continue to help so many other families of children with life threatening diseases.- children who are unlikely to reach adulthood - who have an illness for which there is no cure.

We can not bring Emily back, but what we can do is help Acorns, who help other families in their 'hour of need' . It is the very least we can do.

On average, one of the children they care for will die each week.

It currently require £6 million a year to provide this service - £4500 per day for each of it's hospices - a daily bed cost of £450

They only receive a small part of their income from central Government, the rest has to come from Donations from people like yourselves. Please help.
