Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For 30 years I enjoyed playing Club Cricket, starting in 1974 with A & B and also playing for British Rail, Swarkestone and finally Darley Abbey where I finished playing in 2004.
Two years ago I was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer, I was given a life expectancy of 5 years. I’m on drugs for the rest of my life and they have some difficult side affects. However I’m alive and enjoying life and will continue to do so for as long as possible.
This April I will be 60 and to celebrate I intend to walk around the boundary of 60 cricket grounds where I played in my cricketing life. The reason for me doing this is to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK, but more importantly to raise awareness of this silent killer disease. My plea to every male over 50 is to call your Doctor who can check your prostate. The earlier it is detected, the better the prognosis.
There is no date set yet to do this because of the restrictions, but I’m hoping to complete my challenge at sometime during Spring/Summer of 2021.
