London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·

The Natalie Kate Moss Trust was setup in 2012 by the Moss family after the sudden death of Natalie from a brain haemorrhage. With only 3 out of 5 people surviving a brain haemorrhage within one month, the trust is on a mission to prevent and treat as many brain haemorrhages as possible.

Story

On the eve of my 40th birthday, my mum tragically suffered a haemorrhagic stroke (also known as a brain haemorrhage). My London Marathon is dedicated to you mum, to turn all the hurt and sadness of losing you into something positive.

There is currently no successful treatment for haemorrhagic strokes. Around half of all patients who experience this type of stroke will die, a statistic that has sadly changed very little in the past 30 years. Meaning that this type of stroke kills twice as many women as breast cancer and twice as many men as prostate and testicular cancer combined each year, a startling fact.

The Natalie Kate Moss Trust are striving to change this.  Set up in 2012 by the Moss family after the sudden death of their loved one Natalie at the age of 26 from a brain haemorrhage. The trust works collaboratively with Manchester University generating funds for ground-breaking research into the prevention and life saving treatment of brain haemorrhages. Every donation you make no matter how small will help to turn this goal into a reality.

This will be my first ever marathon (and probably my last!!!) taking place just before the anniversary of losing you mum. Every time I’m out on the road I’ll be thinking of you, of every memory we’ve shared. I know you will get me to that finishing line! You dedicated your life to me, Katie & Ellie, I’m dedicating this to you with a hope of making a difference so that one day other people won’t lose their loved ones in this heartbreaking way.
