Several marathons for HD. · 5 February 2009
The challenge was to run 6 marathons in 2009 for Huntington's Disease (HD). Having never ran a 5k before let alone a marathon, I felt this was a pretty good challenge to take on!
When I started this challenge my dad was in the late stages of HD and had been suffering for over 15 years from this horrible disease. Sadly my dad passed away on September 17th, shortly after I'd finished my 4th marathon of the year.
It's been very tough to pick myself up since his death, I stopped training for around 6 weeks and ate like a pig! Not one to give up easily I'm back training again now and have my sights on 2 marathons in December to complete the challenge. I will try my best as that's all I can do :)
Donate if you can, the Huntington's Disease Association do great things for families affected by HD in this country and are a worthy cause.
Tc, Matt.
