Done!!! In 1.50 hrs

Swimathon 2018 · 27 April 2018 to 29 April 2018 ·
Hello People
For the past 6 years I have competed in
this annual Swimathon. For some years I'd see the banners go up around my local
pool (Brixton Recreation Centre) and think, "I'd like to try that". A
self-taught swimmer, I was not very confident in my ability to complete
the minimum challenge of 2.5K, but I summoned up the courage and entered… Then
chickened out and didn’t train or compete. The following year I did the same.
Then came a life changing experience. Touring with Alabama 3. And after 2 tours of duty on a tour bus around the UK selling merchandise, eating, breathing and, even sometimes sleeping, Rock n’ Roll! the prospect of swimming 100 lengths felt...doable.
I then moved from 2.5K to 5K which remains a massive challenge for me.
This year I am dedicating my swim to my beautiful cousin Alice. Less than a year older than me, cancer took her from us last August. Her initial illness was some 20 years ago and without the treatment she received we would have lost her 2 decades earlier.
Money raised will go to:
Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie are teaming up and heading down to the pool for Swimathon 2018 – thousands of swimmers, two great causes, one big charity challenge.
Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research.
Marie Curie, the UK’s leading charity for people with any terminal illness and their families.
THANK YOU!!!
