'Sailing On Tears' was written during the UK national lockdown of 2020, after seeing news stories and documentaries about the global refugee crisis. I felt a surge of emotions: compassion, sympathy, frustration, confusion, sadness and eventually hope. There is hope that more people will come to understand the struggle of survival faced by millions of displaced people. Furthermore, there is hope that many people will feel compelled to show humanity by helping those in need. Money makes a difference, if channelled effectively; music awakens our senses. Bringing these together- raising funds through music inspired by the cause, we are aiming to support refugees and asylum seekers in the UK via this commendable charity: Refugee Action.
