I am running this 10k race with my eldest daughter Mikaela for my youngest daughter Tally, who contracted bacterial meningitis when she was just 1 years old (also known as meningococcal disease).
This causes inflammation of the lining around the brain and spinal cord, which can be life-threatening. It can also lead to further, life-long complications such as brain damage, seizures and behaviour problems. Some survivors even have to amputate their limbs, but Tally was lucky enough to survive this with just a scar that remains on her knee today.
I am so grateful that Tally is in our lives, it wouldn't be the same without her and we are so proud of her and all that she has achieved. However, some people aren't as lucky as us, so I'd like to do this in hope that other families get the support we had, as well as a better chance of survival.
I am aiming to raise £200 for Meningitis Now, so if you'd like to support me please do donate - any amount is hugely appreciated!
Thank you,
Nadia x
