Story
I’m not a huge fan of heights (really not a fan!).
Neither am I a fan of flying (genuinely can’t stand it).
I’ve just agreed to do a wing walk.
Sh*t.
For anyone that doesn’t know, earlier this year, Dad gave us the shock of our lives when he suffered a cardiac arrest. As I'm sure you can imagine, it was a terrifying time for all of us, but through it all we were incredibly lucky that he had amazing people who brought him back to life and nursed (and doctored!) him back to health. I’m not entirely sure how we’ll ever be able to express our gratitude to each and every one of those amazing NHS staff, for how they looked after Dad, and also their immense levels of empathy and patience with us whilst we were in the room with them around the clock. We were even lucky enough to be provided with somewhere to stay onsite so that we could always be only a few minutes away. Even typing this I’m getting a lump in my throat and misty eyed!
SO! In short, I want to do something that goes some way
towards expressing my gratitude to the amazing people involved in our amazing
NHS service, and particularly those within the Bristol Heart Institute! As
such, I’ve had a think about what the most personally terrifying activity is
that I could choose and come up with wing walking…
This is where I have something to ask of you. If you can
spare any sum at all to sponsor me and support my fundraising efforts for a
wonderful cause, please click on the link, and ideally leave a little message
of support – I suspect I’m going to need those for the psychological challenge
I’ll face – in the run up to, and on the day of the walk! My target is to raise
£2,000 over the course of the next year and you can rest assured that anything
you are willing and able to contribute will be most appreciated.
