Story

India, like many parts of the world right now, has been brutalized by the second wave of the Covid virus. It has ravaged many of the main towns in India and is still raging through the villages. Many more people have been affected and died than the first wave

However, people from already vulnerable and disadvantaged communities are suffering even more. This includes those from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Castes, daily wage labourers, widows, and elderly people, to name a few. They are truly the worst affected in this crisis.

How are people effected?

People are getting effecting in three ways:

  1. Fear Panic of second wave of Covid19- Clinically and Psychologically
  2. Insecurity for not having not enough financial constraint as Indian health system has been collapsed. However, the Government is doing its best to combat the situation, but it is unable to reach out in downtrodden and marginalized people. Medicines are not available, if available they are black marketed.
  3. Due to strict lockdown, people are unable to earn their daily wages and feed their families. This is more painful situation than the Covid itself, for them.

Who are affected?

The most effected people are the daily wages earners, senior citizens, slum dwellers, widows, beggars, rag pickers, people who are historically marginalized, differently abled peoples, etc

In this current pandemic situation since last year March 2020- alumni of Nagarjuna Training Institute, are spreading awareness of the disease, distributing food and homemade masks, contacting local private and government authorities, and much more, to the extent we are able, in towns and villages all over India. We are also in different relief work as and when needed like the flood, earthquake, or any other natural disaster.

How we work?

We work on the information provided by our volunteers regarding the people in distress due to the current lock-down situation all over India. They collect information regarding what they need through conducting base line survey around their localities. The information is then passed to the State Coordinators, who then pass this information to our central team located in Manuski- Pune. The central team then uses its available resources and networks to help the needy.

How your kind donation utilizes?

Our Needs- The money will be used for:

  • Involving more volunteers in this situation.
  • Provide Dry Food Kit (Rice, Pulses, Cooking Oil, Salt, Spices, Sugar, Salt, Tea Powder, biscuits)
  • Providing sanitizers, hand wash, sanitation pads, etc
  • Providing Nutrition Food to malnourished children- like dry fruits, peanuts, jaggery, etc.
  • Supporting Covid Care Centre at Nagaloka for oxygen beds and cylinders, ambulance, medicines, food, appointing nurse and staff, etc

The Funds will be utilized as follows: 50% for the relief work and 50% to support Covid Care Centre at Nagaloka

In our relief work initiative since last year -March 2020, we have reached out and supported 13073+ families, helping 66134+ people in 69 districts of 19 Indian states.

(As per website report: https://reliefwork.nagaloka.org/ as on 15th
June 2021)

But still there are many who are extremely in need of help immediately, your kind support will help us to reach out these peoples at the
earliest.
