This team will be taking on a 100km trek over 5 days along the South West Coast path with 6 nights camping under the Cornish stars - whatever the weather! This is a bespoke adventure and absolutely without a doubt, a challenging trek.

Story

So what can I say that’ll grip you and make you read My Story and donate whatever you can to the amazing Coppafeel?
Maybe I’ll just explain how it all happened. Early in 2019 I found a lump in my breast.

As simple as that - an oval shaped lump that felt smooth like a pebble on the beach. I wasn’t worried. After all ‘I’m far too young for cancer’.
But, if you’re reading this, you already know that it was cancer.
Following my diagnosis I endured 6 months of 2 types of chemotherapy. 2 surgeries. 4 weeks of radiotherapy. 1 year of immunotherapy (which finished on 19 August 2020) and 10 years ahead of daily tablets. All to cure me of my primary breast cancer and to try and deter any chance of secondary breast cancer.

I found my lump with the help of Coppafeel. A charity that’s sole purpose is to prompt YOU detect early signs of breast cancer. We alllll know about lumps. That’s what they tell you to look out for - the doctors, the magazines, your friends....but as I have come to discover finding a lump is by no means the only thing to be aware of. Coppafeel spread their message in ingenious ways across the country - in offices, in universities. All so that YOU can know exactly what you’re looking for.
I’m passionate about their work - I’m passionate about the fact they educate people that you are not too young for it to be breast cancer. I’m passionate about knowing your body and knowing what’s normal for you in order to know when you need to take it further.

Soooooo this is all a long old ramble to say... I’M TREKKING THE SAHARA DESERT!!! 8 days and 100km of trekking. All in the aid of raising money and raising awareness for Coppafeel. [obviously due to the pandemic this has changed location to Cornwall. Still 100km and still so so hard]

I am so lucky to be undertaking this challenge. Before cancer I was the fittest I could be, and I was confident in my body’s ability. Since my diagnosis I have lost all confidence in myself both mentally and physically. My treatment didn’t ravage me physically but it did mentally and I’ve undertaken this challenge to help rebuild who I am now, and to feel proud of what I can achieve. I can’t change who cancer made me but I’m excited to see who this challenge makes me.

Fundraising for Coppafeel throughout Covid-19 has taken on a new challenge as well as a new meaning. They need your donations now more than ever. Please donate whatever you can to help this incredibly special charity.
