I am running a 10k race to fundraise for Belper Community and Food Hub

I am running a 10k race to fundraise for Hope For Belper Community and Food Hub. PLEASE SPONSOR ME!
Those who know me well-ish will know that I am no gifted athlete. I have never run 10k in my life! I am currently training hard for the race, which will take place at Locko Park, Spondon, on 11th December. It’s a Christmas-themed race, and I WILL BE WEARING FANCY DRESS. Needless to say, I need your support to get through this – both moral and monetary!
Hope for Belper is a tremendous charity making a huge positive difference to local people’s lives here in Belps. They oversee a range of local projects including the Food and Community Hub which helps to alleviate food poverty in the town. Many people speak of Belper as pretty affluent compared to its past, and it’s true, Belper has come a long way…! BUT, there are still a lot of residents – individuals, couples, and families – who are struggling to make ends meet here. Mathieu and I experienced the despairing situation of food poverty over the first lockdown in 2020. The cold realisation that we would have nothing, absolutely nothing left in the bank to buy food was a dreadful feeling that I never thought I’d have to grapple with in my life. We are ETERNALLY GRATEFUL to Hope for Belper for being there when we needed help. Not only did they give us food, but they also gave us invaluable kindness and smiles during the isolated depths of the 'Stay Home to Save Lives' period. We know how fortunate we are that relying on a food bank was a temporary situation for us, and that unfortunately for many people in Belper (and all over the country), food poverty is a terrible and chronic fixture in their lives past, present, and future.
Thankfully, we have initiatives like the Community and Food Hub @ Hope for Belper - run by a group of wonderful, selfless, generous individuals who give out kindness (and food!) in heaps to every single person they meet in our community who needs support.
Food banks shouldn’t need to exist, but they do, and they need our continued support NOW.
PLEASE help me to raise important funds for the Food Hub here in Belper. If you don’t want to give to this particular campaign, do consider donating money or items to YOUR local food bank instead. You can contact them to ask what specific items they are short on so that your donation really makes a difference. Whatever you do, PLEASE DO SOMETHING extra this month for your local food bank.
Thank you for visiting my page! :-)
