Story
Thank you for visiting my Just Giving Page.
I have recently signed up to trek the Coastal Freedom Trail in aid of Camp Simcha, a charity existing to support families living with serious childhood illness. The 72km trek through the Pyrenees from Southern France to Northern Spain this July 2017, follows the footsteps of men, women and children attempting to flee the Nazis during WW2. This historical route will be a meaningful journey, but also a real challenge with the rocky terrain and intense heat, which will certainly test my physical endurance, but I know it will be worthwhile for an incredible cause. In today's times, of course, it also takes on additional meaning.
What is Camp Simcha?
Camp Simcha exists to support and improve the quality of life for Jewish families in the UK coping with serious childhood illness. It does this by providing a wide range of 24/7 practical and emotional support services for parents and powerful positive experiences for children, including siblings who are often the forgotten sufferers when a child is seriously ill. It presently reaches over 1000 family members across the UK, operating in London, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Bristol, Leeds, Norwich, Brighton and Gateshead. Together with our hospital programmes, our services impact, on the lives of over 8,000 children throughout the UK.
There has been an increase in demand for services, with a 35% rise in the last year for counselling, home based therapeutic arts activities and hospital transport.
