The escalation in violence could not have come at a worse time as the Gaza Strip is already grappling with a weak healthcare system and a lack of medical resources.
According to ReliefWeb, the North Gaza Seawater Desalination Plant has had to stop operations due to the risk to workers and a damaged supply line, affecting 250,000 people.
The main electricity feeder to the region has also been damaged, affecting 65% of Gaza’s water and sanitation facilities.
In Gaza, there is an acute water crisis. Over 90% of households have a tap where clean water once flowed, but today the water is no longer safe to drink.
