Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

From birth Matthew was ill, at 10 weeks old we were told to prepare ourselves for the worst. This year Matthew will be 10 and we are blessed and grateful for every single day we have with him. If it hadn't been for the Children's Liver Disease Foundation funding research, educating health professionals and introducing campaigns such as Yellow Alert he would not be with us today.

Following many tests and a biopsy at 14 weeks old Matthew was diagnosed with Alpha 1 Anti trypsin Deficiency.  A lifelong condition of which there is no cure.  We do not know what the future holds for Matthew, his condition is unpredictable, there is a very high chance that 1 day he will need a liver transplant.  His condition currently affects his liver but his lungs are also being affected which means one day he will suffer symptoms very similar to COPD and Emphysema.  The Doctors cannot tell us when this will be so for now we concentrate on keeping him fit, healthy and enjoying life.

We cannot thank CLDF enough for all they have done so far for Matthew, our only way is to support them in fund-raising and raising awareness in all they do.  We will continue to support them and hope that one day the research will lead to a cure.

Studio 20's owner Shaun Kennard and very experienced, amazing instructor Jo Walker have very kindly donated their gym, equipment and time, free of charge, to hold a morning of fun classes to raise funds and awareness.  Spin, Step, Aerobics - 60 minutes each of fun, sweat and laughs for £10 each and a kids fun fit class for Matthew's peers for £5.

We are also holding a raffle with some generously donated prizes.  £2 a strip or 3 strips for £5.  If you want to be included in the raffle please leave a message with your donation and I can fill the tickets out for you.

Steve Nuth is also holding a fund-raising photo session and competition through his own website stevenuthphotography.co.uk/charity-page.
