We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

This event was cancelled last year due to COVID, so hopefully I will be able to complete it this July.

As many of you know my brother John took his own life when he was just 21 years old. This year will be 17 years ago which just seems crazy, so I’m going to smash out a half iron man in memory of him.

I’ve decided to take on a challenge of 1.2 mile open water swim, 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run. If anyone knows me, you know I can’t swim, scared of the water and have had to have swimming lessons. It will be my biggest challenge ever, but by knowing I would have raised some money for this charity will make all the hard work seem so worth it.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. Our goal is a life less miserable for you, your friends, your family and for all men.CALM PROVIDES>A free and anonymous helpline 0800 58 58 58 and webchat (5pm-12am daily) staffed by trained professionals>Bereavement support >A website www.theCALMzone.net with inspiring content by men for men>Campaigns tackling stereotypes of masculinity, suicide and male mental health.Help us save lives.
