Story
Most people know my story.. on Friday 4th March 2016 at approximately 3:10pm I was stabbed 24 times (all to vital organs) in the street, right by Sutton Coldfield town centre in an attempted murder. I was 8 months pregnant at the time. The news rocked the area and my life was saved by the intervention of some brave passers-by, WM Police & WMAS.. But all their efforts would have been in vain if it wasn't for Midland Air Ambulance Charity.
Midland Air Ambulance managed to land very close to the scene of the attack - where I was literally on the edge of life. They quickly air lifted me to a major trauma centre. By miracle, both my baby and I survived. We were both significantly damaged by the attack, but alive.
These last 2 years I have fought on with my survival. I have had to come to terms with the fact the attacker was my partner, father of my baby, a man I lived with, adored and showed no signs of violence ever before.
Aside fighting a terrible mental/emotional battle, a physical battle has also been ongoing as I have had to rebuild my health and accept some things are irreversibly changed now.
But I won't stop fighting. I've been lucky enough to be given a second chance, and I will make it count!
I have done challenges before to raise money for Midland Air Ambulance Charity (a 100% charity funded service).. but this one poses some significant problems for me..
Firstly it is in June, and usually falls on quite a hot day.. I will be running it in a full length heavy hot flight suit, as worn by the paramedics and doctors on board. I get hot running in gym kit!! I will also be running in a way I'm not used to.. I never run outdoors nowadays as I am too scared when out on my own.. so I stick to the treadmill in the gym. The course is particularly hilly and that adds it's own challenges.
There is also a huge emotional link to this run... The run starts and ends right by the place I was attacked and I will be running over the spot I was airlifted from..
But none of these things will stop me. I aim to raise at least £2400 from this challenge - the £ equivalent of my baby's birth weight as she was born by emergency c section in theatre as they pieced me back together. Please donate whatever you can and share this link.. It would be amazing to smash the target.
