London Landmarks Half Marathon 2024 · 7 April 2024 ·
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to take part in my first ever half marathon next April to not only raise money for Mind, a charity very close to my heart and personal to me, but also to push myself out of my comfort zone and see my full potential and what I am capable of.
The half marathon falls on my Birthday weekend and what a way to celebrate turning 28 than achieving something like this, a major milestone for me when a year ago I could not even run 2 minutes!
I will be running for the charity Mind, a mental health charity i’m sure you’ve all heard of. This charity is very close to my heart after struggling with my mental health since my teens and battling through. It’s safe to say it’s been one hell of a rollercoaster and one you’ll never truly get off unfortunately, you just have to keep going even on the hardest of days, and trust me I know this is easier said than done but you are stronger than your mind! I have been in and out of therapy for many years which has majorly changed my outlook on life, this was one of the hardest steps I have ever had to take but asking for help is one of the strongest and bravest things you can do and it will truly change your life for the better.
Over the years the one thing that has always kept me going is exercise. The love I have for the gym and weight training has kept my mind going, it is the one time of day where I can switch off and just focus on me with no distractions in my mind. Running is something I never ever enjoyed and could never do, last year I could not even run 2 minutes and now I have signed up to a half marathon, crazy! I am so proud of my progress so far with running since I began back in July, already I have achieved a 15km and I am more determined than ever to achieve that half marathon mark and who knows what else I could do in the future, nothing is impossible. I am very excited to see my full potential along this journey, showing myself what I can actually achieve if I set my mind to something, this improves my mental health massively as I prove to myself I can do it and all the self-doubt thoughts that go on in my mind I prove wrong.
Mental health affects 1 in 4 of us and the more we speak about it openly the easier it’ll be for all of us to be open and honest and get the help we need and deserve and to break the stigma around it!
If you would like to support me on this exciting venture i’d be forever grateful and be so grateful for you supporting this incredible charity.
