We fund research into childhood cancer to save and improve young lives

Story

For all the mums and dads of these amazing children...

I see you.

Cancer is the word we all fear, The hushed whispers, The gaze thats never met.

Its rubbing your Childs legs at midnight, Because the chemo makes them hurt, and telling them its all for the best.  Its holding the sick bowl, because they've not stopped being sick for hours.

Its pouring poison into the veins of your beautiful baby, Watching them bloat from steroids, or turn into skeletons from infections and aggressive treatment.

Its handing your child over to strangers, so they can operate on them. Its holding your child down for painful tests and procedures Its comforting them, and telling them, everything will be OK.

Its crying in the shower, because you have to be strong. Its saying goodbye to the warriors you meet along the way, some will make it, some will not.

Its washing your hands 50 billion times a day. The fear of infections never far away. Its blood tests, and biopsys, injections, meds. Its MRIs, CTs, PETs, and x-rays.Its waiting by the phone, for the results, desperately hoping nothing has changed.

Its watching your child sleep at night, and making memories while you can. Even if your child is one of the lucky ones, its the late effects, the long term consequences. Its physio, and OT, and phyciatrist, play therapy.

Even when treatment is finally through, even when your child is happy and well. Cancer will always leave a scar, deeply emblazended on your heart. In its wake it leaves disbilites, and phycological scars, ptsd and anxiety, constant fear and worry.

When your child has cancer, it changes you. You watch your child go to hell and back, You get so used to your child having an anesthetic that you dont cry anymore, You calmly hold your child still for painful tests.

You seem so strong.      But I see you.

I know inside, behind that strong exterior, that mask you put on for all the world. I know, your slowly breaking, your trying hard not to show it, but I see it.

I know because my Childs a warrior too.

Original words by Sam Wiggins Mum to a Histio warrior.

This poem says so much about what we as a family are going through. Torri was 7yrs old when diagnosed & spent her 8th birthday in the operating theatre receiving chemo for treating leukaemia. She has an aggressive type & will receive various types of chemotherapy for nearly 3 yrs.

She is my hero, her sister Alexsi gives me strength every day to carry on being all I can be for both of them.  My husband is glueing us altogether by being strong & working so hard. We have received so much love from so many since this happened & with the help of many of my dearest friends I will be able to run the marathon to give help & support for the future hero’s & their families

Please donate & thank you for reading this through.
