Can you believe there are 800,000 babies and children in Israel living in poverty? This means they can't even afford the basics of a decent meal.

So I'm trying to raise £2,000 for baby formula and food for needy children and babies.

Just during the festival of Passover the charity Yad Ezra V'Shulamit were asked for 14,000 food baskets by needy families.

Each week Yad Ezra V'Shulamit- endorsed by both Chief Rabbi's of Israel- distributes over 2500 food packages at various distribution points throughout the country (including 1000 packages within Jerusalem) 

Each food package contains: chicken, fish, fruit, vegetables, legumes, canned goods, challa for Shabbat, and more. They also provide soup kitchens and hot lunches for children.

Volunteers distribute the packages.

In especially difficult and extenuating circumstances, the organization provides financial support to families (e.g., widows and orphans, or where a family member is in need of expensive medical care, etc.)

The organization arranges for special fund raising drives to help achieve this goal, and then passes the donations straight on to the families.
