Hi. My name is Natalie Robert, I am 13 years old and I’m raising money for an Israeli charity called Emunah. What is Emunah you may be wondering. Well, Emunah is a charity that cares for those children in Israel whose lives are in danger, and whom no one else wants. Emunah has homes in Israel where these children go to live and to be cared for, to be loved and to be helped.

During my last Summer holiday in August 2009 I visited an Emunah home in Afulah. I went to visit Chani, a girl my age who was about to celebrate her Bat Mitzvah. Her parents were divorced, she was having a difficult time at home, and without the money I gave she couldn’t afford a party. When I met her we hugged and cried and even though we didn’t speak the same language we knew exactly how we each felt.

There are lots of Chanis in Israel and I want to help some of them to have a better life. So many of the things I take for granted, they will never know.

And so I am going to raise some money for Emunah. Next week I will be doing a sponsored silence, before school, in school and after school. I will be doing it with two of my school friends, Olivia Harris and Alex Hyer. For most people, not talking for a day is difficult. For me it is going to be a real challenge, because I find it very hard to shut up. If you know me well, you’ll be smiling and nodding now and saying “yup”.
