British Thyroid Foundation

We support people with thyroid disorders to improve care and awareness in the UK

Charity Registration No. 1006391

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Do you know that you have a Thyroid? Everyone has a thyroid.
Unless you are like me, and have had it removed. Your thyroid is a small
butterfly shaped gland that sits in our throat and controls EVERY cell in your
body. Without it, the hormone that it makes must be taken in pill form every
day at exactly the correct dose.

To keep it simple; our Thyroid regulates our bodies
metabolic rate, as well as our heart rate, digestive function, muscle control,
brain development mood and bone maintenance, amongst so many other features.

And believe me, without the thyroid helping your body with
all of this, it can get to the point where you don’t recognise your reflection;
not only from mood change but also weight gain or loss, or even the physical
appearance of your eyes!

Whilst I was in the midst of my illness it was the most that
I could do to get off the sofa and make a cup of tea, it would literally feel
that I had run a marathon, I felt that exhausted. So 18 months after my Total
Thyrodectomy (the removal of my whole thyroid) that is exactly what I am going
to do!!

I want to raise money for the British Thyroid Foundation to
help and support all those others out there that are suffering or have suffered
with a thyroid malfunction of any level.

So please help me to support a charity that is close to my
heart and my non-existent thyroid, and donate!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
