UNICEF is the leading children’s organisation, ready to respond rapidly wherever disaster strikes, delivering life-saving help for children.  UNICEF believes that every child should have clean water, food, health care, education, and a safe environment in which to grow up.

One example of many is Unicef's work in Chad where there is internal conflict between the Chadian government and armed opposition groups and crossborder attacks by Darfur-based militias and interethnic violence.  UNICEF is providing vaccines for routine immunisation and has distributed 30,000 mosquito nets and antimalarial drugs aswell as safe water and sanitation for over 100,000 displaced people. Their protection programme focuses on preventing child recruitment, reintegrating child soldiers into their communities and identifying separated children and reunifying them with their families.
