This June we want you to take part in Best foot forward for kidney patients, walk or run 60,000 steps, this can be done over the month, in one week or even a day. The 60,000 steps represents the 60,000 kidney patients transplanted or on dialysis.

Story

This June I will be taking part in the National Kidney Foundation's Best foot forward for kidney patients campaign and walking (or running) over 60,000 steps each week.

As many of you know kidney disease runs in my family and those of us with it will either need dialysis or a transplant at some time. My uncle, Andrew, was fortunate not to have the kidney condition and gave the incredible gift of one of his kidneys to his brother, my father, when he was in need of a transplant. Very sadly Andrew passed away last year but his generosity and kidney legacy lives on in our family.

The National Kidney Federation provide help, guidance, advice and information to kidney patients across the UK and are funded solely by donations.  Covid hit their fundraising efforts and so now they need our help. Their 60,000 steps campaign represents the 60,000 kidney patients transplanted or on dialysis.

Without a daily commute to work on the London underground , it's been a while since I hit 10k steps a day so I'll be making up any missed steps in my weekly 60K target in the gym!
